What’s new? The Polkadot blockchain now has the ability to send tokens and exchange messages directly via parachains. This feature has become available due to the integration of a messaging system called Cross-Consensus Messaging (XCM), The Block reports. XCM allows all Polkadot parachains to communicate with each other directly. Previously, the network’s parachains were fragmented and “wrapped” the tokens for exchange.

More details about the new system. XCM operates on the basis of the network’s central hub, the Polkadot Relay Chain. According to the developers, this solution is more reliable and secure compared to bridges. In the future, the messaging system will allow data to be forwarded without having to be stored in a central hub.

“Now that Polkadot’s cross-chain messaging protocol has been enabled, Polkadot has fulfilled its objective to be a fully interoperable multi-chain ecosystem,” Shawn Tabrizi, lead developer at Polkadot, said.

What is Polkadot? It is a blockchain project that aims to create a secure infrastructure for interaction between various networks by using parachains, separate blockchains that are tied to the main chain to validate transactions. The network uses the native token DOT. In December 2021, there was an official launch of five parachains that won the auction. More details about Polkadot can be read in our article.
