What’s new? The Polygon network has pledged to become carbon neutral in 2022. The developers of the sidechain have released a “Green Manifesto: A Smart Contract with Planet Earth,” according to which climate change is the biggest threat to the freedom of Web 3.0. and help to develop an ecological blockchain industry.
How will Polygon deal with eco-problems? The developers of the sidechain are partnering with KlimaDAO, an organization that provides carbon offsetting technology. Polygon is also assisted by Offsetra, which develops analysis tools that measure the intensity of CO2 emissions.
According to the published manifesto, every NFT produced, intermediate token, or transaction on the Polygon network will be accounted for and its environmental impact will be offset. An analysis of the sidechain’s carbon emissions showed that their total volume for 2021 amounted to 90 645 tons of CO2.
What is Polygon? It is a secure Layer 2 (L2) and sidechain network powered by the Ethereum blockchain. Polygon’s main goal is to increase the scalability of the main network, reduce network load and reduce transaction fees. We covered Polygon in detail in our article.
