Tencent filed a patent application related to virtual concerts in the metaverses

What’s new? Tencent, a Chinese investment holding company, has filed a patent application for virtual concerts with the Chinese National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). Along with Tencent, the Patent Office of the People’s Republic of China received 16 000 applications related to metaverses. In November last year, the People’s Bank of China took a tough stance on metaverses and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), but the number of those willing to launch their projects has not diminished.
What preceded it? On December 31 last year, Tencent held China’s first virtual concert in the metaverse. The festival was in celebration of the New Year and was called TMELAND. More than 1,1 million users attended the concert. Tencent also acquired Wave, a Los Angeles-based company that deals with virtual concerts. Wave uses motion-capture technology for greater realism.
