What else does Macron talk about? He supported the MiCA (Markets in Crypto Assets) bill passed in the European Parliament. According to the French president, the crypto sector should not be self-regulated.
“We now have to ensure the uniformity of rules on the European territory to create a unified market. Given this context, I am in favor of making rapid progress on the MiCA regulation.”
What is known about MiCA? The legislation aims to regulate all digital currencies not covered by existing regulations. It aims to help streamline the regulation of distributed ledger technology (DLT) and virtual assets in the European Union while protecting users and investors.
What had happened before? In March, the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs of the European Parliament (ECON) adopted a bill on the regulation of cryptocurrencies. 45 members of Parliament participated in the vote, with 5 voting against it and 7 abstaining.
