Eric Trump warned people and called the coin a “fraud.”
What’s new? A meme coin called TrumpCoin has caught the attention of members of the Trump family. The former president’s son, Eric Trump, stated on his Twitter that his family has nothing to do with the coin. He also added that “legal action will be taken.”
Fraud Alert: It has come to our attention that someone is promoting a crypto currency called "TrumpCoin" (Symbol "TRUMP.") This has NOTHING to do with our family, we do not authorize the use and we are in no way affiliated with this group. Legal action will be taken.— Eric Trump (@EricTrump) January 24, 2022
What is TrumpCoin? The coin’s website says that the project was launched on February 20, 2016, in honor of former President Donald Trump, but has no legal connection to him. TrumpCoin has a market capitalization of around $1,5 million and just over 6,6 million coins in circulation. Trading is currently down heavily due to Eric Trump’s tweet. TrumpCoin was also listed as a potential scam project by the cybersecurity company PeckShield.
