What’s new? Twitter, a microblogging service, has added the ability to set an NFT as avatars in user profiles. The initiative has been implemented based on OpenSea’s NFT marketplace API. This is stated in the official account of the premium service Twitter Blue. Under the picture of subscribers who use NFT, information about the token will be visible, namely, its creator, properties and characteristics, as well as the blockchain and the standard.

What is known about the new feature? For now, the ability to add NFTs as avatars is available to subscribers of the premium Twitter Blue service with iOS-based devices. They can link their social media account to an Ethereum wallet and specify NFT when selecting a profile picture.
Currently, the service supports only Ethereum wallets, namely Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask, Rainbow, Argent, Trust, and Ledger Live. Other blockchains may be added in the future, the developers have not ruled out.
What had happened before? It became known at the end of September 2021 that Twitter was testing the function of uploading NFT as an avatar. At that time, the social network’s representatives published an experimental video with a mock-up of the actions to install a profile picture.
