What’s new? The volume of venture investments in cryptocurrency companies fell by 31% in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the first quarter, from $9,85 billion to $6,76 billion. This is reported by Bloomberg, citing data from the research firm PitchBook.
What are the reasons for the decline? Experts at PitchBook believe that the decline in investment volumes was influenced by the collapse of the Terra ecosystem, the problems at cryptocurrency lender Celsius and staff cuts at the exchanges such as Coinbase, Crypto.com, and Gemini. According to analysts, these events have contributed to the uncertainty in the venture capital investment market.
Earlier, journalist Colin Wu reported that in June, investors contributed $3,67 billion to cryptocurrency and Web 3.0 projects. Compared to the previous month ($4,45 billion), the volume of investments decreased by 18%, while the number of projects that received funding dropped from 225 to 191.
