What’s new? MVFW, organized by Decentraland and NFT-marketplace UNXD, will take place on March 24. Brands such as Paco Rabanne, Dolce & Gabbana, Etro, Tommy Hilfiger, Dundas, Cavalli, Nicholas Kirkwood, Elie Saab, and Imitation of Christ will participate in the virtual fashion event.
The event will last 4 days and will focus on digital fashion collections. There will be a shopping area resembling Avenue Montaigne in Paris, and brands will sell both digital and physical goods.
What do the participants say? Dundas founder Evangelo Bousis says:
“The point of the metaverse is to dream and do these fantastical looks that you can't wear in real life.”
Shashi Menon, the founder of UNXD, said:
“Some brands are naturally more ready than others to leap in, whereas others want to monitor things before entering. That’s to be expected.”
What preceded it? In October 2021, Dolce & Gabbana sold a series of NFTs worth about $6 million, created in collaboration with UNXD. And on February 5, 2022, the first wedding ceremony was held in the Decentraland metaverse.
