What’s new? Wietse Wind, creator of the Xumm non-custodial wallet for the XRP Ledger blockchain, spoke about working on integrating debit cards from payment company Mastercard. However, he noted that adding debit transactions to the Xumm wallet will not be able to avoid additional fees that are charged by the card issuer. In this regard, he also added that a completely separate financial infrastructure is more beneficial in the long run.
What else is known? A day earlier, the company announced a prepaid card in partnership with hardware crypto wallet maker Tangem. It is not intended for use in terminals and ATMs and serves as a storage device for cryptocurrency assets.
In June, the developers of the Ripple payment protocol introduced the Crossmark web wallet for holders of native tokens XRP based on the XRP Ledger. Through the use of web browser extensions, the wallet will facilitate transaction management, movement between networks, and access to various features and services, as well as interaction with decentralized applications (DApps). The product has been tested has been underway since April, and the launch date is still unknown.
That same month, Mastercard expanded its Engage program to accelerate the launch of crypto cards and later announced plans to partner with non-custodial crypto wallet providers, including MetaMask and Ledger.
