What’s new? The US cinema chain AMC Theatres has given away an exclusive NFT collection on the WAX blockchain to its shareholders. The number of non-fungible tokens exceeded 580 000, Decrypt reports. According to the company, the token holders will receive discounts and other perks at the cinema chain. These NFTs will also be available for sale.
How is AMC Theatres linked to cryptocurrency? The largest cinema chain actively explores the possibilities of digital assets. Last November, the company added support for cryptocurrencies. The visitors can pay for tickets using Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, and even Dogecoin. The cinema chain also plans to launch its own token. AMC has partnered with Sony Pictures to release joint NFTs on Spider-Man.
