European Netflix users will be able to pay for subscriptions with cryptocurrency

What’s new? Streaming service Netflix plans to add the option to pay for subscriptions using cryptocurrencies by the end of 2022. In question is the European branch of the service, the project will be implemented in partnership with cryptocurrency exchange WhiteBIT. This news was shared by the platform’s CEO Vladimir Nosov on his Instagram.

What other statements have been made? According to Nosov, the cooperation between WhiteBIT and Netflix will include the launch of an educational crypto platform and a new TV series of 10 episodes, in addition to the possibility of paying for subscriptions with cryptocurrency.

What is known about WhiteBIT? It is a cryptocurrency exchange with registration in Lithuania. It was founded in 2018 and operates in 150 countries. The number of platform users exceeds 3 million. The exchange offers trading of more than 400 assets, leverage for margin trading up to 20x, integration with TradingView, APIs, tournaments, and a mobile app. The ecosystem of WhiteBIT also includes WhiteSwap, a decentralized exchange (DEX), Bitcoin Global, a P2P trading platform, and Whitepay, a crypto payment system.

Earlier, reporters of The Sydney Morning Herald, citing their sources, reported that Netflix plans to impose a ban on the advertising of cryptocurrencies, politics, and gambling in the new subscription tier. It is not yet clear whether the ban will only affect Australia or will be extended to other countries with the service, including the United States, Britain, Canada, France, and Germany.
