What does DeSantis say? From his perspective, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez has done his best to make the city cryptocurrency-friendly. During a recent press conference announcing his recommended budget, DeSantis said:
“Our view at the state government is that we welcome digital assets. We always want Florida to be ahead of the curve, and we see the potential for cryptocurrency adoption, so it makes sense to offer the option to pay state fees in cryptocurrency – regardless of how much it fluctuates in an arbitrary time period.”
What events preceded it? In 2021, during a speech in Tallahassee, DeSantis focused on blockchain technology. Florida’s Governor explained that the state intends to launch pilot programs that will tie distributed ledger technology to government entities, such as Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, and Medicaid payments.
