What’s new? Google has allowed users to search for addresses in the Bitcoin, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Polygon, and Fantom blockchains. If you type the address of a wallet into the search bar, the remaining balance and the time it was last updated will be displayed.
What else is known? A note to the results states that the balance reflects only the native tokens for each network, and the timestamp of the last update shows the balance at the time of the last external transaction. “Updates are not instantaneous,” the note emphasizes.
The ability to view wallet balances when searching by address was first added for the Ethereum blockchain in May last year. On March 22 this year, the search engine also began displaying wallet balances associated with the Ethereum Name Service (ENS).
At the end of January, Google changed its advertising policy, allowing the promotion of cryptocurrency-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
