Kanye West applied to register an NFT project

What’s new? On May 27, American musician, producer, and fashion designer Kanye West has filed 17 trademark applications related to his brand YEEZUS. Trademarks are envisaged including for West’s projects in the field of cryptocurrencies and NFT. This was announced on Twitter by intellectual property lawyer Josh Gerben.

Details about the applications. In addition to blockchain-based currencies and non-fungible tokens, it is intended to register trademark applications for retail and online stores, sporting equipment, games and toys, clothing, cosmetics, and household items.

What events happened before? On February 1, Kanye West posted an Instagram post stating that he wanted to create real products in the real world and was not interested in NFT. That post was later deleted.

In January, musician Ozzy Osbourne released the CryptoBatz NFT collection of 9666 tokens. CryptoBatz can interact with other NFTs from the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), SupDucks, and Cryptotoadz collections.

In September 2021, Aquarium band leader Boris Grebenshchikov auctioned off a collection of 24 NFT portraits on the OpenSea platform.
