​Number of addresses with balances from 1 BTC for the first time exceeded 1 million

What’s new? According to analytics service Glassnode, the number of bitcoin addresses that hold 1 BTC or more crossed the 1 million mark for the first time ever on May 13. The number of such addresses has increased by approximately 190 000 since the beginning of February 2022.

What else is known? On April 17, Glassnode analysts reported that about 77% (14,8 million coins) of the total bitcoin volume is in the profit zone thanks to the asset crossing the $30 000 mark. Then BTC’s weekly yield reached 36% for the second time, again making it the most profitable asset in 2023.

The growth above $30 000 led to an increase in the number of bitcoin millionaires, with more than 50 000 new users owning more than $1 million worth of BTC in the first half of April.

CryptoQuant researchers believe that bitcoin could return to its all-time high ($69 000) as early as the first half of 2024. The company conceded that the asset is out of a bear phase, adding that institutional clients intend to invest in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in the third and fourth quarters of 2023.
