What’s new? Because of the high volatility of digital assets and the thrill of making profits, some people have become addicted to this sector. Consequently, luxury rehab centers offering services for those struggling with crypto addiction are popping up all over the world, BBC reports. One such center is The Balance on the island of Mallorca, Spain. The elite facility offers crypto trading addiction treatment services that cost about $75 000 and include therapy, massage, yoga, and bike rides.

What else does the publication report? Among the rehabilitation centers that offer treatment for crypto trading addiction is Swiss Paracelsus Recovery. Treatment there lasts from four to six weeks and one patient, according to BBC, paid $104 000 per week. Treatment includes blood tests, customized diet plans, yoga, acupuncture, and, if necessary, medication.

Some experts are skeptical of the high cost of crypto addiction treatment. For example, Lia Nower, director at the Centre for Gambling Studies at Rutgers School of Social Work, said that rehab centers are “making money off desperate people.” Regardless of the type of addiction, she said, the symptoms and treatment will be essentially the same.

However, some rehabs have rejected the notion that crypto addiction can be treated the same way as other addictions, such as gambling. Jan Geber, CEO of Paracelsus Recovery, explained that crypto trading is positioned as a legitimate activity, while gambling is more talked about as a potentially problematic activity.

Izvestia previously reported the emergence of crypto addiction. According to Tatyana Meteleva, the head of the rehabilitation center “Dvoynoy Diagnoz,” many patients initially had an addiction, usually to computer games, and cryptocurrency in this case becomes a new way to replace reality. In turn, Victoria Pashkovskaya, the head of the rehabilitation center “Nezavisimost”, noted that crypto addicts have a similar morbidity structure to alcoholics and workaholics.
