What’s new? Tether, the issuer of USDT, the largest USDT stablecoin by capitalization, is launching an initiative to promote education on blockchain and digital assets in Taiwan. The company will organize courses for students in conjunction with the National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT), also known as Taipei Tech.
What else is known? The initiative is inspired by the success of a course on blockchain and digital assets that were previously held for students at the College of Management at NTUT. Other educational institutions also intend to partner with Tether to launch similar educational programs.
The courses aim to provide comprehensive education on the basics of blockchain and cryptocurrencies from both technical and business perspectives, develop critical thinking for self-assessment of potential risks, and explore approaches to regulating the industry. It is separately emphasized that the courses promote the principles of rational and prudent investing, distinct from speculative behavior.
Tether has issued an asset with a peg to the gold stablecoin XAUT
The asset is initially available on the main Ethereum blockchain
Prominent industry players will also be invited to the campuses, allowing students to familiarize themselves with job prospects.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of digital assets in the country.
Over the past two years, Tether and local organizations have sponsored more than 30 students and teachers to attend the Plan B summer school in Lugano, Switzerland. These teachers will be recruited to create special teaching materials for upcoming semesters.
USDT accounted for 69% of the inflow of funds into the stablecoin sector over the past 90 days
Overall, stablecoins have raised $16,23 billion since March
The program is being implemented by Tether Edu, which was spun off into a separate business unit for global education initiatives following an April restructuring. These include annual Plan B courses, investments in the Academy of Digital Industries platform and blockchain courses at Georgia’s Business and Technology University (BTU).
