What’s new? The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will start paying bonuses to fighters in cryptocurrency. Bitcoin payouts will be awarded to the top three athletes at each UFC event based on fan voting. A total of $60 000 will be distributed among the winners. The UFC plans to keep traditional cash bonuses for the best fight and individual performance as well.

What had happened before? In January, the UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou revealed that he plans to receive half of the fee for participating in the January tournament in bitcoin.
In late March, Brazilian fighter Matheus Nicolau ranked 8th in the UFC’s bantamweight division, revealed that he will receive income from fights in bitcoins through the Bitwage payment system. The athlete added that earning money in BTC will allow him not to worry about his money will be lost because of the rising inflation in Brazil.
