What’s new? The Warner Bros. movie studio in partnership with blockchain company Eluvio has released the movie Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in Web 3.0 format with a limited edition of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). There are two NFT versions of the film, Mystery Edition and Epic Edition. The first one costs $30 and the second will cost customers $100. The versions contain a 4K movie, bonus footage and commentary, image galleries, and exclusive augmented reality (AR) collectibles.

What is known about the NFT movie? A total of 10 000 copies of the Mystery Edition are available and come with one of three location-based navigation menus modeled after a location in the film. The Epic Edition has 999 copies that include all three location menus — The Shire, Rivendell, and Mines of Moria. This edition will also come with exclusive bonus image galleries.

Eluvio distributes NFTs through its Ethereum-compatible blockchain. Non-fungible tokens based on The Fellowship of the Ring can be purchased with credit as well as debit cards, or cryptocurrency. Once purchased, users can run the extended movie version in streaming mode from their media wallet.

This is the first set of NFTs available on the new marketplace WB Movieverse, which Warner Bros. and Eluvio call a “Web 3.0 Movie Experience.” Two NFT movies have already been announced on the website.

Earlier, the Latin American division of the streaming service Netflix created a location from the movie “The Gray Man” in the Decentraland metaverse. For completing a maze based on the movie, users receive items of clothing for their avatars in the virtual space.
