What’s new? The team behind the Aptos blockchain-based explorer and non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace Topaz has announced the closure of the project. The official announcement did not disclose the reasons for this decision, but stated that it was made “after careful consideration.” The developers thanked users, partners, and the blockchain community for their support. In turn, users complained about the impossibility of withdrawing assets.

What else is known? Less than a month ago, on July 31, the developers at X-account said they were investigating a security incident on the platform’s website and urged users not to interact with it. Since then, the team has not posted any updates, except for the announcement that the marketplace is shutting down.

In August, some users complained that their NFTs were “stucked” after being posted for sale and not showing up on the marketplace. One of the participants in the discussion on August 12 said that he had listed NFTs as far back as three weeks ago, but they were still unavailable on the marketplace.

“It’s ridiculous. Not even an update. The team has ghosted us. Completely unprofessional. I don’t know how Topaz recovers from this to be quite honest. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if the project is dead and we don’t ever get our NFTs back,” another user noted.

A few days later, another commenter noted that the only thing available on Topaz is selling NFTs via auction. He claims to have sold a few of his tokens this way at a small loss, but it is “better then keeping it stuck.”

Under the new post about the shutdown, there are also users trying to figure out why NFTs are locked and not displayed, and how they can be withdrawn.

In the Discord channel, the Topaz team also did not disclose details of the shutdown but suggested that users switch to similarly feature-rich platforms that offer explorer and marketplace services, such as Aptos Explorer from blockchain developer Aptos Labs.

“We are working with the community on a posting a helpful How-To guide on how to use some of these tools,” Topaz concluded.
