What’s new? Argentine low-cost airline Flybondi announced the release of airline tickets in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Token holders will receive benefits, including access to better fares and the ability to buy tickets in advance and without risk.

What is known about the initiative? The project is supported by TravelX, which has developed a blockchain-based distribution protocol for the travel industry. Every customer who buys an NFT ticket can sell or transfer it to other travelers three days before the flight.
Users will be able to buy the ticket through Binance Pay. For now, only USD Coin stablecoin (USDC) is accepted for payment, but the range of available cryptocurrencies will expand in the future.
What is known about Flybondi? It is a budget airline in Argentina, using Boeing 737-800 aircraft with bases in Buenos Aires and Cordoba. It made its first flight in January 2018.
In April, Spain's third-largest airline, Air Europa, partnered with TravelX to launch the world's first collection of NFT airline tickets in conjunction with Algorand's blockchain. Users who purchased NFTickets gained access to a special Madrid-Miami flight on November 29, 2022.
Dubai-based Emirates Airlines unveiled plans to launch its own NFTs. The tokens will be both collectible and service ones. And in May, the airline said it would begin accepting payments in bitcoin.
