What’s new? One of the world’s largest international banking and financial services providers, HSBC, has bought a plot of land at the metaverse, The Sandbox blog says. HSBC’s chief marketing officer for the Asia-Pacific region, Suresh Balaji said that the metaverse “is how people will experience Web3, the next generation of the internet.”
What is known about Sandbox? The Sandbox project was launched by the game developer Pixowl. This is a virtual world based on the Ethereum blockchain that allows digital assets to be created, bought, and sold using a native SAND token. The users own plots of land at the metaverse, which are non-fungible LAND tokens.
Who else collaborates with The Sandbox? In February, the Gucci brand bought a plot of land at The Sandbox metaverse to create a virtual clothing and accessories store. In March, the gaming company Square Enix announced a partnership with the metaverse.
