What’s new? US Senator Hillary Clinton is calling on Joe Biden’s administration to put pressure on crypto exchanges to stop transactions with Russian users. She believes that the regulators should stop cryptocurrency markets from giving Russia a loophole for both public and private transactions. Commenting on the refusal of some crypto exchanges to block Russian users, Clinton said:
“I was disappointed to see that some of the so-called crypto exchanges, not all of them but some of them, are refusing to end transactions with Russia for some, I don’t know, philosophy of libertarianism or whatever.”
What preceded it? Amid the ongoing blocking of Russian citizens’ accounts, the exchanges have been divided into those who agree and those who oppose it. The KUNA crypto exchange, the CEX IO platform, and the representatives of BTC Alpha have already introduced restrictions for Russian users. The Binance and Kraken exchanges refused to block accounts of Russian users.
