What’s new? Interest in cryptocurrencies among residents of the United States has fallen to a minimum point in 2022. According to Google Trends, Americans’ interest in digital assets has dropped by 80% over the past year.

When was the peak of interest observed? Cryptocurrencies became most popular in the US in May 2021. After that, Americans’ interest in digital assets declined until August. Between August and October of last year, the figure increased again. Since the end of 2021, US residents have been losing interest in cryptocurrencies.

What preceded it? In 2021, the capitalization of the crypto market surpassed the $3 trillion mark. The price of bitcoin peaked above $69 000 last year, while Ethereum peaked above $48 700. On March 28, 2022, the capitalization of the digital assets market is $2,2 trillion, with bitcoin and Ethereum trading at $47 000 and $33 000 respectively.
