Russia’s Prosecutor General proposed to introduce cryptocurrency in criminal legislation

What’s new? Russia’s Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov has called for digital assets to be included in criminal legislation. In his view, this initiative should simplify the investigation of cases of theft of cryptocurrencies, as well as make it possible to arrest them, TASS reports.
What did Krasnov add? The Prosecutor General noted that cases of crimes related to digital assets have started to increase. Given the criminological projections, the law enforcement agencies should strengthen measures to prevent and solve crimes, Krasnov believes.
“There are still enough problems here, unfortunately. We are doing our best by means of supervision to solve them,” the Prosecutor General explained.
What had happened before? In April 2022, the district court in St. Petersburg for the first time allowed the Investigative Committee to seize the stolen cryptocurrency. The law enforcers blocked 24 addresses with 4 000 ETH, which an attacker stole from an investor.
