What’s new? The Swiss Post Office will offer customers the option to store and trade cryptocurrencies through its financial services arm, PostFinance. PostFinance head of retail banking Sandra Lienhart noted the growing popularity of digital assets and said that “this is the ideal time to enter the market.” According to the organization’s plans, the service will appear by early 2024, Swissinfo reports.
What else did the organization say? The Swiss Post Office believes that the adoption of cryptocurrencies by banks is the best way to achieve mass adoption of the new form of digital money. PostFinance already provides its customers with access to cryptocurrency through the Yuh app. The organization also issued its own cryptocurrency stamp. It consists of two parts: a physical version and a digital copy attached to it via QR code.
In December 2021, Switzerland’s largest bank Swissquote announced the launch of its own crypto exchange. The service will support staking services, trading in stablecoins, as well as the most popular cryptocurrencies.
