What’s new? The Interchain Labs team has introduced a new cross-chain protocol called IBC Eureka to connect the Ethereum and Cosmos blockchains. IBC Eureka complements the second version of the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, through which the Cosmos ecosystem blockchains can exchange information and assets. The integration will provide a fast, accessible connection between Ethereum and Cosmos.

What else is known? Ethereum is the first network outside of Cosmos to join the IBC ecosystem, and Eureka developers also plan to add support for Solana, Base, and Arbitrum networks in the future.

According to the press release, the new product will reduce the cost of transferring assets between blockchains to less than $1. It has significantly improved security and programmability within the cross-chain communication, which will allow Ethereum and Cosmos developers to create a new class of applications that will unify previously fragmented liquidity.

Throughout 2025, developers intend to expand IBC Eureka by connecting additional blockchains to create a unified economy.

Thus, the decentralized exchange dYdX, based on its own blockchain, the network for tokenized assets MANTRA, as well as bitcoin staking protocols Lombard and Babylon will soon join IBC Eureka.

In particular, participants in the latter two protocols will have the ability to transfer liquid staking tokens (LSTs) issued in exchange for asset blocking into Cosmos.

Babylon Labs notes that this marks an important step towards unlocking the full potential of bitcoin in decentralized finance by providing seamless, secure, and efficient access to Cosmos for holders of the first cryptocurrency.

Interchain Labs is managed by the Interchain Foundation, a Swiss non-profit organization that is developing Cosmos and its associated ecosystem.
