​Crypto wallet Trust Wallet adds support for Toncoin

What’s new? Crypto wallet Trust Wallet has begun to support Toncoin (TON). The Telegram channel “Kod Durova” announced this on May 4. From now on, users of the wallet can store Toncoin in the original TON blockchain network. Previously, Trust Wallet only supported wrapped versions of the coin on Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain networks (ERC-20 and BEP-20 standards, respectively).

What else is known? Trust Wallet Head of Product Eric Chang emphasized that the service was one of the first major wallets to integrate TON.

“Trust Wallet remains dedicated to innovation and accessibility and are looking forward to helping this blockchain grow to accommodate millions of users,” Chang added.

About Toncoin. It is the token of the decentralized computer network TON (The Open Network). The concept was developed by the Durov brothers in 2017, they raised several billion dollars in the project. On June 28, 2022, the last TON was mined before the blockchain switched to the Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus algorithm, causing the issue to drop by about 75%. As of May 4, at 13:50 UTC, the asset is trading at $2057, down by 2% overnight (CoinGecko’s data).

About Trust Wallet. It is a non-custodial software crypto wallet with a built-in decentralized application (DApps) browser, launched in 2018. It is part of the ecosystem of the Binance crypto exchange. The service supports more than 40 blockchains and offers cryptocurrency exchange, custody, and staking, as well as storage of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), purchase available via bank cards. The number of users exceeds 60 million.

In April, Trust Wallet partnered with crypto pay services Moonpay and Ramp Network, allowing its users to convert digital assets into fiat without the need to use centralized exchanges (CEX).

In December, Trust Wallet announced the integration of the app with the THORChain multichain liquidity protocol to exchange assets between different blockchains without using third-party applications.
