ESET detected 13 fake crypto wallets with malicious code

What’s new? ESET has uncovered a fraudulent scheme that distributes malicious applications disguised as well-known cryptocurrency wallets. ESET also reported 13 malicious apps posing as the Jaxx Liberty wallet on the Google Play store. According to the company, this scheme has been in place since May 2021.
What else did ESET discover? Malicious apps distribute through fake websites that mimic popular cryptocurrency wallets such as MetaMask, Coinbase, Trust Wallet, TokenPocket, Bitpie, imToken, and OneKey. The scammers can also spread their software through Facebook and Telegram. Their main target is Android and iOS smartphone users. Most hacks have been recorded in China.
Earlier, the hacker withdrew more than $625 million from the Ronin Network sidechain, this hack became the largest in the history of DeFi projects. The US Federal Trade Commission also recorded an increase in the number of crypto scammers in dating apps.
