What’s new? On March 17, Europe’s first metaverse-themed exchange-traded fund (ETF), the ETC Group Global Metaverse UCITS ETF (ticker METR), was launched on the London Stock Exchange. This ETF is now available for sale across Europe. It was created to monitor the Solactive ETC Group Global Metaverse Index, which tracks the stock quotes of 51 companies engaged in the metaverse industry.
Which companies are represented in the index? The listed companies operate in the following areas of the metaverse: virtual and augmented reality, 3D graphics, semiconductors, wireless communications, video streaming, online gaming, and blockchain technologies, including NFTs.
What is known about METR? It is the second thematic ETF created as part of a collaboration between ETC Group, which develops digital asset-backed securities, and HANetf, an independent provider of UCITS ETFs.
