Hackers hacked into the Russian Ministry of Construction website and demanded ransom in cryptocurrency
The attackers threatened to make users’ personal data publicly available

What’s new? On June 5, the media reported that the website of the Ministry of Construction of Russia had been subjected to a cyber attack. Hackers from the Dumpforums.com team promised to make all users’ personal data publicly available if 0,5 BTC (₽973 641 at the exchange rate of June 6) is not transferred to their wallet by June 7. On June 6, the press service of the Ministry of Construction said that the personal data of users of the website is safe, RIA Novosti reports. The department’s website was unavailable for some time, and a message about technical maintenance was posted on it.
On April 17, the Belarusian cryptocurrency exchange Currency.com said a large-scale DDoS attack, which was committed a few hours after the announcement of the suspension of services for users from Russia. The platform’s owner Viktor Prokopenya blamed Russian hackers for the incident.
In May, Crystal Blockchain analysts covered in detail the activities of the Russian hacker group Conti. It carried out numerous attacks on public institutions and private companies around the world. The criminals are responsible for creating popular ransomware such as Ryuk and Trickbot.
