What’s new? Ledger, a French hardware crypto wallet developer, has confirmed cases of physical emails being sent to users on its behalf to steal seed phrases. Earlier, information about this in his X-account was published by crypto trader Jacob Canfield, who also received this letter.
What else is known? In the letter, the scammers write that the company is allegedly conducting a critical security upgrade, and users need to confirm their recovery phrases to ensure asset protection.
They claim that refusal to undergo the procedure will result in restricted access to the wallet and funds. Attached at the end of the email is a malicious QR code, when clicking on the link, from which users are supposedly required to enter their password.
Following the instructions from the email will entail losing access to the wallet and all funds.
The sender in the fraudulent emails is listed as Ledger itself with a postal code in Paris. The
scammers also mentioned the option to contact the company’s tech support if potential victims still “have any questions.”

In 2024, the bureau received over 140 000 complaints
Ledger representatives confirmed that the emails in question are in no way related to the company:
“Scammers impersonating Ledger and Ledger representatives are unfortunately common. Always remember: Ledger will never call, DM, or ask for your 24-word recovery phrase. If someone does, it’s a scam.”
