Fintech company LevelField Financial, which specializes in digital assets, has confirmed that it has received approval from the Illinois regulator to purchase Burling Bank. After final approval, the bank is planned to be reformatted and renamed LevelField Bank, while retaining FDIC deposit insurance and adding cryptocurrency services at the federal level.
According to the company, the integration will combine traditional banking instruments with the capabilities of the digital asset market. The Fed’s management must make the final decision on the transition to a banking holding structure.
Services and capabilities of the new bank
LevelField has announced that the future bank will offer a wide range of crypto-focused products. These include bitcoin-backed loans, debit and credit cards with BTC bonuses, as well as digital asset placement and trading services. The services will be available 24/7.
Visbanking analysts note that Burling Bank is a small bank: its assets are estimated at approximately $196 million, and its retail deposits amount to about $158 million. Despite its size, the bank has a full license, which allows LevelField to legally enter the market under the supervision of banking regulators.
LevelField CEO Gene A. Grant II emphasized that the company is targeting segments that traditional banks pay little attention to. He added that operating within the framework of banking regulation will give the company advantages in terms of reliability, customer protection, and compliance.
