key points:

  • Ripple has launched the Scamberry Pie campaign to raise user awareness of common online fraud schemes.
  • The campaign includes tools for checking links and accounts, as well as recommendations for identifying red flags.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse presented a new strategy to combat online fraud on X (formerly Twitter). In his address, he noted that during the holiday season, the number of fraudulent schemes usually increases, and the scams themselves become more aggressive.

Gurlinghouse announced the launch of the Scamberry Pie campaign, an initiative designed to help people discuss suspicious activity on the internet and understand the key signs of risk. The campaign lists characteristic “red flags”: fake airdrops, persistent urgent messages, suspicious links, impersonation, and artificial activity on social networks.

The initiative also offers tools for checking questionable websites, accounts, and messages. Ripple emphasizes that early detection of such signs helps prevent fraud based on pressure, manipulation, and lack of reliable information.

Industry support amplifies the campaign’s impact

Garlinghouse separately highlighted the work of Ripple’s security team, which regularly blocks malicious domains and fake livestreams targeting XRP holders. He emphasized that scammers are becoming increasingly inventive and often impersonate well-known individuals or use fake materials.

The Scamberry Pie campaign is being implemented as part of the Technology Against Fraud coalition, which includes Match Group, Cash App, Coinbase, and the National Cryptocurrency Association. Coalition members share data, identify fraudulent domains, and work with platforms such as YouTube to expedite the removal of false content.

Ripple has previously reported a surge in fraud targeting XRP holders and has urged the community to be more vigilant.
