What’s new? Kazakh law enforcement officers detected and closed 106 illegal cryptocurrency mining farms as part of an operation to crack down on illegal mining activities. This is reported by the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Financial Monitoring.

What statements have been made? The Agency stressed that cryptocurrency mining is gaining momentum and illegal activities in this area pose a threat to the country’s economic security. The increased energy consumption by illegally installed farms leads to supply disruptions and electricity shortages for businesses and ordinary consumers.
As a result of due diligence, 56 enterprises have voluntarily ceased operations and 51 farms have been disconnected from power sources.
