What’s new? Blackpooltech, a cyber research company, has recovered a pensioner’s stolen cryptocurrency from fraudsters. Mr. Robinson wanted to exchange cryptocurrency and decided to find the appropriate software. He received a call from an “employee of the developer company” of a crypto wallet, to whom the man gave remote access to his computer. The scammers then withdrew $1,8 million in bitcoins, GlobeNewsWire reports.
How did events develop? After the hack, the pensioner contacted a cybersecurity company that helps victims of crypto scams. The company’s employees were able to trace and recover the missing bitcoins.
“It was like winning the lottery. There was no chance to get it back, but we had to try, and I am so lucky to have the funds recovered,” Robinson stated.
Blackpooltech’s representatives claim that the company is an “authorized criminal investigation agency” but have not documented its status.
