What’s new? According to the Google Trends service, the Dogecoin cryptocurrency meme ranked fourth in the global search news queries rankings for 2021.
What other trends made the list? The most popular news query for the past year was Afghanistan, from which the Western troops were withdrawn. In second place were shares of the American cinema chain AMC. Third place went to the coronavirus vaccines. Rounding out the top five is GME Stock, the shares of the retail chain selling game consoles, computer games, and gaming accessories.
As for Dogecoin's popularity, the main factors behind its high position in the ranking were tweets by Elon Musk. The entrepreneur repeatedly promoted the cryptocurrency on social networks, which caused sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate.
