South Korean exchange Upbit develops NFT-enabled credit card

Some items bought offline will be converted into metaverse tokens

What’s new? Dunamu, an operator of South Korea’s largest crypto exchange Upbit, has signed an agreement with a financial services company BC Card to launch a credit card that will support NFTs and metaverses. Some items purchased offline with this card will be accompanied by the issuance of an additional token in the Dunamu 2nd Block metaverse, Korea JoongAng Daily reports. The release date of Dunamu’s NFT credit card has yet to be determined.

What do the companies’ representatives say? Kim Hyoung-nyon, Dunamu vice president, state:

“Dunamu and BC Card together will provide a revolutionary service that leads the trends of the digital economy. We hope new technologies like NFTs and metaverse settle to become useful in our daily lives through the two companies’ efforts.”

BC Card President Choi Won-seok claims that the agreement is the first time a financial company and a blockchain project have collaborated to issue credit cards. Choi looks forward to furthering cooperation with Dunamu.
