What’s new? The first criminal case on embezzlement of crypto exchange assets has been opened in Russia. One of the owners of the Internet platform is suspected of stealing users’ assets, the man was detained in the Serpukhov city district of the Moscow region. He was carrying a suitcase with more than 190 million Russian rubles (RUB) in cash, RIA Novosti reports.
Details of the case. Following the arrest, 29 searches were conducted in the homes of the suspect and his alleged accomplices. During the searches, 50 million RUB, $1 million, 70 000 EUR, as well as expensive computer equipment and hardware crypto wallets were seized. The person involved in the case has been charged and his property arrested.
In January, the Federal Security Service conducted raids on addresses linked to the REvil hacker group. During the operation, more than 426 million RUB was seized, as well as expensive property and equipment.
