A new type of fraud with Meta Mask wallets has appeared
The developers of the crypto wallet have warned that a fraudulent scheme is aimed at gaining access to users’ accounts

What’s new? The users of the MetaMask cryptocurrency wallet began receiving emails from unknown people who introduced themselves as developers. The notifications were said the requirement to pass verification to comply with the KYC rules, otherwise, the user’s account will be blocked. MetaMask’s representatives posted a warning on Twitter, urging customers not to click on the links, as the messages are being sent out by the attackers. They aim to gain access to the user’s account.

What is known about the wallet? MetaMask is a popular browser extension that functions as a cryptocurrency wallet connected to the Ethereum blockchain. MetaMask allows users to interact with the ecosystem without having to download the entire blockchain to their device. The wallet was developed in 2016 by ConsenSys. No email address is required when registering an account with MetaMask. For this reason, the developers of the wallet cannot send emails to customers.
