What’s new? Chiliz, a blockchain platform for fans, has announced a multi-year strategic partnership with K-League, South Korea’s top professional football league. The collaboration is designed to reinvent fan engagement by leveraging the power of distributed ledger technology. The agreement includes the integration of “K League Fantasy” into the Chiliz ecosystem. “K League Fantasy” is a league game where fans can create their own lineups by collecting player cards and compete against other users based on the points assigned to each participant.
What else is known? The partnership will allow K League to become the first sports organization to act as a node validator for Chiliz Chain. Thus, the football league will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity, security, and governance of the network by validating transactions and voting on proposals in the Chiliz ecosystem.
Chiliz is a Layer 1 (L1) blockchain compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It focuses on decentralized applications (DApps), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), blockchain gaming (Play-to-Earn, P2E), Watch2Earn virtual sporting events, and ticket sales for live matches.
The native token of the CHZ project as of February 19 ranks 84th in the ranking of cryptocurrencies with a capitalization of over $1 billion and is trading at $0,11448, down by 0,4% over the day, according to data from the CoinGecko aggregator.
In September 2023, the English football club Tottenham Hotspur released its own token under the SPURS ticker on the Socios fan platform based on the Chiliz blockchain.
