Analysts at the leading crypto market data aggregator CoinGecko have calculated that since 2021, 3,7 million of the 7 million cryptocurrencies added to the platform have stopped trading and are now considered dead. Thus, 52,7% of all cryptocurrencies whose information was available on CoinGecko have crashed.

What else is known? The largest number of projects closed in 2024 and early 2025. Notably, a record 1,8 million projects, or 49,7% of the total number of cryptocurrencies dead to date collapsed in Q1 2025 alone.

Analysts note that the sharp decline in token resilience can be attributed to broader market turbulence following Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2025.
