What's new? Maiquetía “Simon Bolivar” International Airport in Venezuela will provide passengers with the opportunity to buy air tickets using cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin, DASH and the national digital currency El Petro will be accepted as payment, writes the local newspaper El Siglo.
How will the payment process proceed? According to the airport director Freddy Borges, a new payment system will be created for payment in cryptocurrency. The payment process will be organized according to the requirements of the local financial regulator.
As Borges explained, the airport is trying to offer modern technologies and convenient payment methods not only to local passengers, but also to tourists.
What had happened before? As we mentioned in August, Venezuela’s Central Bank plans to introduce a digital bolivar in the near future. It should help the country bypass Western sanctions and deal with economic problems.
