What’s new? Raoul Pal, a former executive of the investment bank Goldman Sachs and Real Vision TV CEO, said that the total capitalization of the cryptocurrency market could increase from $1 trillion to $200 trillion in the next ten years. According to him, the number of users of digital assets also has a chance to reach 4-5 billion. Among other things, Pal explained this by the implementation of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). The macroeconomist told about this in an interview with crypto analyst Scott Melker.
What else did Pal say? While the macroeconomist is extremely optimistic about the long-term prospects of cryptocurrencies, he admits he could be very wrong. According to Pal, even if his prediction is wrong by 90% and the market capitalization of the crypto market reaches only $20 trillion, he will still accept such an outcome. Pal noted that if capitalization does increase to $200 trillion, it would be the shortest period of the large accumulation of assets in history.
As of August 22, 12:00 UTC, the total capitalization of the cryptocurrency market is $1,072 trillion, down by 12,1% over the week, according to CoinGecko.
Earlier, Matt Hougan, chief investment officer at Bitwise Asset Management, said that the bitcoin rate could rise to $500 000. In his view, BTC will approach the market capitalization of gold, which exceeds $11 trillion.
