What’s new? Brad Garlinghouse, the CEO of the fintech company Ripple Labs, has said that the US national cryptocurrency reserve should include not only bitcoin, but other tokens as well. “We live in a multichain world, and I’ve advocated for a level-playing field instead of one token versus another. If a govt digital asset reserve is created — I believe it should be representative of the industry, not just one token (whether it be BTC, XRP or anything else),” the senior executive noted.
What else is known? Last week, US President Donald Trump, by special decree, instructed a working group to consider the creation of a national reserve of digital assets, an initiative that was voiced by the politician back during the election campaign.
The crypto market expects the potential reserve to include bitcoin as the largest by capitalization and having the highest level of institutional adoption of the digital asset.
That said, users of Polymarket, the largest crypto prediction market, estimated the likelihood of Trump giving the green light to the project in the first 100 days of his administration at just 17%.

Garlinghouse opposes BTC being promoted as the only worthy candidate for inclusion in the national reserve.
“Maximalism remains the enemy of crypto progress, and I’m very glad to see fewer and fewer folks ascribe to this outdated and misinformed thinking,” the entrepreneur said.
