What’s new? Romanian state-owned postal company Posta Romana will install cryptocurrency top-up terminals in its branches as part of a pilot project in partnership with the country’s largest digital asset trading platform, BTR Exchange (Bitcoin Romania).
What else is known? The first terminal is already operating in Tulcea Post Office #1 and allows users to deposit cash to fund their Bitcoin Romania accounts.
Four other post offices in Alexandria, Piatra Neamţ, Botosani, and Nadlac will also be equipped with terminals in the near future.

“The project reflects Poşta Română’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technologies into its services and bringing innovation closer to all citizens, including in less digitized areas,” a press release states.
The initiative could prove popular as more than 600 000 citizens invest in cryptocurrencies, according to Horia Gustă, president of the Association of Fund Administrators (AAF) of Romania.

In 2022, the Romanian postal company issued the first official non-fungible token (NFT), a digital commemorative stamp celebrating the institution’s 160th anniversary.
Part of the collection was sold at auction, with the funds raised going to the organization Hospice Casa Speranţei. The following year, the company launched a collection of 100 NFTs and postcards dedicated to anti-communist heroes.
