Основа деятельности Stronghold Digital Mining – переработка отходов угледобычи в энергию, впоследствии используемую для добычи биткоина. Регулятором штата Пенсильвания этому энергоносителю был присвоен зеленый статус на одном уровне с гидроэнергетикой.
В оборудовании компании насчитывается 1800 ASIC-устройств с хешрейтом в 85 PH/s. Фирма планирует достичь 3000 PH/s в декабре этого года и более 5300 PH/s к концу 2022 года. Для этого еще в апреле компания заказала поставку 27 300 майнеров, объемы вычислительных мощностей которых составляют 2600 PH/s.
Представители Stronghold Digital Mining рассчитали примерную себестоимость добычи одного биткоина: она составит 3 тысячи долларов. Добытые монеты будут продавать для капитальных вложений и покрытия операционных затрат. Ответственность за хранение активов возьмет Coinbase Global.
