Key points:

  • Pavel Durov has introduced Cocoon (Confidential Compute Open Network) — a decentralized artificial intelligence computing network built on the TON blockchain.
  • The project will allow users to share their graphics card power and receive rewards in TON, while developers will be able to use a secure and scalable AI infrastructure.
  • Telegram will be the network’s first client, with launch scheduled for November 2025, supported by investments from AlphaTON Capital and next-generation GPUs.

At the Blockchain Life 2025 conference in Dubai, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov presented Cocoon, a decentralized computing network based on artificial intelligence and built on The Open Network (TON) blockchain. The full name of the project is Confidential Compute Open Network. The network is scheduled to launch in November, with Telegram becoming its first major customer. Immediately after the announcement, applications for suppliers and graphics processor developers became available.

The Cocoon network allows users to share the computing power of their graphics cards and receive TON cryptocurrency in return. At the same time, developers gain access to inexpensive artificial intelligence infrastructure that processes requests without disclosing user data to centralized providers.

This decentralized system is positioned as an alternative to the monopoly of large technology companies such as Amazon AWS, and Microsoft Azure.

Privacy, scalability, and investment

The launch of the project coincided with growing concerns about centralized artificial intelligence systems. When large corporations such as OpenAI or Google process user requests, they see all the data, including patterns and metadata. Cocoon’s approach ensures that this information is fully encrypted throughout the entire process — even the owners of the graphics cards performing the calculations do not have access to it.

Telegram, as a globally used platform, allows the project to scale instantly. The integration of Cocoon into the messenger ecosystem will enable artificial intelligence functions in mini-applications and change the way users interact with technology daily.

AlphaTON Capital, a Nasdaq-listed company specializing in digital assets, has announced its intention to make significant investments in network support equipment. It plans to implement new-generation graphics processor models with increased memory capacity in strategically important data centers. These capacities will support modern model architectures, including DeepSeek and Qwen.

The Cocoon project is based on the TON blockchain’s multi-chain architecture, which, thanks to sharding, is capable of processing millions of transactions per second. This structure allows it to effectively cope with the high loads of artificial intelligence while maintaining the transparency and fair market pricing that blockchain provides.
