What’s new? Authorities in China’s capital city have unveiled a large-scale blockchain technology adoption program for 2025-2027. The document, titled “Beijing Blockchain Innovation and Application Development Plan,” is a joint effort by local regulators and supervisory bodies, including the science and technology commission, information technology bureau, and trade commission.
What else is known? The plan is designed to promote advanced technology and boost economic efficiency.
It primarily involves research and development in key areas including cryptography, privacy computing, and distributed systems, culminating in the creation of a blockchain platform to test large-scale scenarios for the technology.
The second element of the program is the creation of a national blockchain infrastructure, including nodes, service platforms, identity systems, and databases.
