What’s new? South Korean company Samsung began developing 3-nanometer chips that can be used for mining cryptocurrencies, as the technology is compatible with ASIC devices. Using the new chips will reduce power consumption by 30% and increase the speed of mining by about 15%.
What are the prospects? Samsung has already found the first customer for its technology, the Chinese firm producing ASIC-maintainers PanSemi. Also a potential customer could become an American technology company Qualcomm.
In February, Samsung announced a new smartphone Galaxy S22 Ultra with a built-in digital wallet that supports cryptocurrencies. In March, the company integrated support for NFT-marketplace Nifty Gateway into a new range of TVs.
